Who we are
Merrifold Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17335652). Registered office: Westgate House, 1 Westgate Avenue, Bolton, Greater Manchester, BL1 4RF, England. Merrifold Ltd operates Merrifold at merrifold.com. You can reach us at legal@merrifold.com.
In these terms, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Merrifold Ltd. “You” means anyone who uses Merrifold, whether as a host creating events or as a guest responding to an invitation.
What Merrifold is
Merrifold is a consumer events platform. Hosts can create beautiful invitation and event pages, collect RSVPs, share event details, and curate gift lists. Guests can view invitations, respond to RSVPs, and browse gift ideas — usually without creating an account.
We may add or change features over time. We will always aim to tell you about changes that matter, but we may update the service without notice where the change is minor or required for security or legal reasons.
Your account and access
Hosts need an account to create and manage events. We use passwordless sign-in (magic links and, where enabled, social sign-in). You are responsible for keeping access to your email secure.
Guests can use many features without an account. When you RSVP or reserve a gift anonymously, we may give you a private link or token so you can update your response later — please keep it safe.
You must be at least 13 years old to create a host account. Guests of any age may attend events organised through the platform; hosts are responsible for invitations to minors.
Your responsibilities
When you use Merrifold, you agree to:
- provide accurate information where we ask for it;
- use the service lawfully and respectfully — no harassment, hate speech, illegal content, or spam;
- respect other people's privacy (for example, not sharing guest lists or contact details without permission);
- comply with any capacity limits, RSVP deadlines, or house rules set by the event host;
- not attempt to break, scrape, or overload the service.
Hosts are responsible for the content they publish on their event pages, including text, images, and gift suggestions. You must have the right to use any material you upload.
Content and moderation
We do not routinely review every event page before it goes live. We may remove content or suspend access if we reasonably believe it breaches these terms, applicable law, or the rights of others. If you see something concerning, please contact us at legal@merrifold.com.
Gift lists and affiliate links
Gift suggestions on event pages may include links to third-party shops. Some of these are affiliate links — if you buy through them, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Sponsored or paid placements are always labelled clearly on the page.
We do not sell gifts directly, hold payments for gifts, or guarantee the availability or quality of items sold by third parties. Cash-fund features, where offered, will be subject to separate terms when they go live.
Premium features and payments
Some features may be offered on a paid basis in future. When premium purchases launch, prices, billing cycles, and refund rules will be shown clearly before you pay. Payment processing will be handled by Stripe (or another regulated provider we name at checkout). We do not store your full card details on our servers.
Until premium billing is live, the core invitation and RSVP features remain free to use as described on merrifold.com.
Intellectual property
Merrifold, our logo, and the look and feel of the service belong to Merrifold Ltd or our licensors. You may not copy or reuse them without permission. You keep ownership of content you upload; you grant us a licence to host, display, and transmit it solely to operate the service for you and your guests.
Availability and changes
We aim to keep Merrifold available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. Maintenance, outages, and third-party failures may occasionally affect the service. We may modify or discontinue features with reasonable notice where practicable.
Limitation of liability
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under English law.
Subject to that, Merrifold Ltd is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, loss of profit, or events outside our reasonable control. Our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of the service is limited to the greater of (a) £100 or (b) the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, except where a higher minimum is required by law.
We are a platform: hosts organise events and guests attend at their own risk. We are not responsible for what happens at a physical event, nor for the actions of other users.
Ending your use
You may stop using Merrifold at any time. We may suspend or close your account if you breach these terms. Provisions that by their nature should survive (including liability limits and governing law) will continue to apply.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except that if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings in your home jurisdiction where consumer law allows.
